Description

A warm Welsh welcome, or “Croeso Cynnes” awaits you at Y Gegin Fach; a traditional detached Welsh barn. Nestled on a 130-acre working farm in a picturesque location, the barn has been lovingly restored to a very good standard, retaining all of its original charm and character, and furnished and equipped to excellent standards for that unforgettable holiday experience. This former stable dates back to the 18th century and has original features, including stone walls and oak beams. Y Gegin Fach literally translates as The Little Kitchen, although the kitchen diner is anything but! All around welcoming touches have been added, including contemporary amenities and a blazing wood-burning stove for those cosy evenings in. The owners’ home is close by but they have created a separate lawned garden, with its own barbecue and pizza oven for private use of guests at Y Gegin Fach. You can sit back and relax, where the glistening River Marlais passes, and watch the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery. There are beautiful walks right from the doorstep in these tranquil surroundings and wonderful views of the famous Brecon Beacons, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Wales’ first and only the fifth destination in the world to be granted the status of an international dark sky reserve. Just a stones’ throw away, the Brecon Beacon National Park, is abundant with wildlife, and is home to many walks (tame or challenging) and enchanted sites nestled amongst tumbling waterfalls and rugged countryside. The historic town of Llandeilo is a short drive away and is famous for its award-winning chocolate shop, boutique shopping and elegant restaurants dotted around the town. Discover the county’s historic sites, including Carreg Cennen Castle and Aberglasney Manor & Gardens or explore the Heritage park of Dinefwr and learn the rich history behind its beautiful 12th-century castle, situated amongst a tranquil 800-acre park with wild deer running free. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dan-Yr-Ogof Caves and National Trust Dolaucothi Goldmines (underground tours available) are all within easy reach. Fishing within 5 miles. Beach 30 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
